Access to world market through ports has increasingly become a determinant to economic growth in some landlocked countries and port countries of the world. Port transit-corridor logistics is now an important element of the international trade supply chains. Not only will ports benefit from efficient transit-transport and transhipment logistics management but some will advance to become regional hubs by perfecting in transit-transport logistics. The complexity in transit-transport and transhipment logistics management demands highly skilled manpower. This is why this programme is carefully put together by academics, ministerial policymakers, port operators, consultants and stakeholders to exploit the efficiency within.
Aim
The broad aim of this skill-enhancement packed programme is to promote efficient port transit-transport and transhipment logistics management in a challenging and dynamic environment. Ports handling goods destined to other countries must meet the acceptable level of efficiency it requires. This will constrain both the facilities and manpower of the port to a certain extent that the capacity can no longer cope unless strategically and tactically managed. It is on this platform this programme was developed hence the following objectives.
